Insurances & Billing

Commercial Insurance & Medicare

Vue Dermatology & Laser participates with most commercial insurance plans and Medicare; however, it is important to confirm with your insurance company that we are in-network prior to your appointment. As part of our contract with your insurance company, we will submit all claims on your behalf, and any remaining balances become your responsibility.

These remaining expenses that are a patient’s responsibility include: co-payments, co-insurance, and deductibles. Co-payments are required at check-in.

Please review your health insurance plan and contact your insurance carrier if you are unsure of your coverage or have any concerns about services they may or may not cover.

Referrals

Some insurance policies require a referral from your primary care provider before they will cover your dermatology visit. Please contact your insurance provider prior to your appointment to verify if you are eligible for medical services or if you require an authorized referral.

If a referral is required, we must have it in place prior to your appointment, or you will be asked to reschedule. Please call us if you have questions or need assistance regarding your insurance coverage.

Self-pay

If you do not have insurance, or we are out-of-network with your insurance, you can be seen as a self-pay patient. Payment for the medical visit component of a self-pay visit is collected at check-in. Any procedures performed during your visit will incur additional charges; these will be explained prior to proceeding. Please contact our office to learn more.

Cosmetic procedures are also considered self-pay, as they are considered “not medically necessary” and are not covered by insurance.

Payment Forms Accepted

Vue Dermatology & Laser accepts payment via debit card, credit card (Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and American Express), cash, or check. Please be prepared to pay co-payments at the time of your visit.

Credit Card on File

We require patients (except those with Medicare + secondary/supplemental coverage) to leave a credit card on file to cover any unpaid balances after the insurance company processes the claim. These cards will also be used for appointment cancellation and no show-fees. Please read more about our credit card on file policy here.

Pathology and Laboratory Fees

As part of your dermatologic care, we may need to perform biopsies or order bloodwork and cultures. We use StrataDx for dermatopathology services and typically send orders for bloodwork to Quest Diagnostics. These labs will bill your insurance for their fees, which are independent of Vue Dermatology & Laser. If your insurance requires the use of a specific lab, you must notify us prior to your visit.
